Born in Flushing, Queens, New York, Peter Marc Jacobson broke into show business alongside wife Fran Drescher, appearing in a string of such 1980s and '90s movies as "Gorp and "We're Talkin' Serious Money." In 1993, he effectively retired from acting to take matters into his and Drescher's own hands, co-creating a vehicle for his longtime spouse. The result was the smash hit "The Nanny," a proper-meets-pert sitcom about a Queens hairdresser who becomes the impromptu caretaker of a Broadway producer's children. After overseeing the similarly charactered Drescher-starring film "The Beautician and the Beast" and divorcing from Drescher in 1999 (with whom he remained good friends), Jacobson returned to television to write, produce, and/or direct episodes of the sisterly sitcoms "Hope & Faith" and "What I Like About You." In 2009, he innovated the concept of the TV pilot with his creation of "Tease," a strip-club-set dramedy that was presented as web series for the express purpose of being picked up by network television.
