As musician and record producer, Pierre Barouh had an important influence on French popular music of the 60s and 70s, playing a major role in introducing the Brazilian samba to Europe. An actor in Claude Lelouch's landmark "A Man and a Woman" (1966, he played the husband with the guitar and cigar), Barouh also made important contributions to the score. (Francis Lai was credited.) In 1970, he produced and directed "Ca Va, Ca Vient," a leisurely and infectious portrait of a group of Parisian workers and their families which became a cult favorite. He has continued to combine music and film in a remarkable funky, friendly mix the Brazilians call-Sarava.
