Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Rob Delaney attended the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, graduating with a degree in musical theater. After college Delaney was nearly sidetracked into an office job, but a serious car accident in 2002 led him to get sober and focus on his passion, comedy. He toiled for years on the stand-up circuit and with the United Citizens Brigade comedy troupe, making a few screen appearances, then, in 2009, he joined Twitter. His fearless wit was tailor made for the social media network, and as he gained followers, his stand-up career bloomed. The same year also saw the premiere of "Coma, Period," a comic web series, created by Delaney that followed the internal life of a man in a coma after a serious accident. In 2012, he was named the 'Funniest Person on Twitter' at The Comedy Awards hosted by Comedy Central, and the same year recorded a stand up special that premiered on Netflix. With his popularity growing, he continued to tour the world as a stand up comic and continued to make appearances on comedy shows, including "Key and Peele" (Comedy Central 2012-2015) and "Cougar Town" (ABC, 2009-2012; TNT, 2012-15). His book Rob Delaney: Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage. was published by Spiegel & Grau in 2013. In 2015, Delaney, along with Sharon Horgan, created and starred in the comedy "Catastrophe" (Channel 4/Amazon, 2015-). Between seasons of the internationally acclaimed comedy, Delaney appeared in blockbuster superhero sequel "Deadpool 2" (2018).
