Robert Horn

Though he built his reputation as a writer through many successful TV projects, Robert Horn always wanted to be a playwright. Born in New York, Horn attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts and later studied at the Circle in the Square Theatre School. He was determined to find work writing in theater but the market for his skills was saturated at that fateful moment in the late-'80s when he was looking. So as a last resort, Horn switched coasts and moved to Los Angeles, where he quickly found work as a writer and producer on the sitcom "Designing Women" (CBS, 1986-1993). He helped make the show's final season a successful one before moving on to write and co-produce on another hit sitcom, "Living Single" (Fox, 1993-98). Horn would go on to write and executive produce the series "High Society" (CBS, 1995-96) as well. All the while, Horn was also one of the most sought after pilot writers in Hollywood, and he even tried his hand at screenwriting as well, helping put together the screenplay for the Charlie Sheen comedy "Good Advice" (2001). Then in 2008, Horn finally landed the opportunity to fulfill his original dream when he was tapped to write the book for the Broadway musical "13." The show proved a great success, and though Horn would find further success in TV writing Disney musicals like "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure" (2011), he ultimately returned to the Broadway stage in 2019, writing the acclaimed stage adaptation of the comedy "Tootsie."
