Sally Payne was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Payne's earliest roles were in film, including the Gene Autry western "The Big Show" (1936), the drama "Exiled to Shanghai" (1937) with Wallace Ford and "Man From Music Mountain" (1938) with Gene Autry. She also appeared in "My Wife's Relatives" (1939) with James Gleason and the western "Young Bill Hickok" (1940) with Roy Rogers. She kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in the western "Bad Man of Deadwood" (1941) with Roy Rogers, the Roy Rogers western "In Old Cheyenne" (1941) and the Roy Rogers western "Jesse James at Bay" (1941). She also appeared in "Nevada City" (1941) and the Roy Rogers western "Red River Valley" (1941). Film continued to be her passion as she played roles in the Roy Rogers western "Robin Hood of the Pecos" (1941), the western "Sheriff of Tombstone" (1941) with Roy Rogers and the romance "The Lady From Cheyenne" (1941) with Loretta Young. She also appeared in the Roy Rogers western "Man From Cheyenne" (1942) and "Romance on the Range" (1942). Payne was most recently credited in the comedic adaptation "Love's Labour's Lost" (2000) with Kenneth Branagh. Payne passed away in May 1999 at the age of 87.
