An animation director who has employed stars like Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks and James Woods as voice talent, Sam Liu worked for Image Comics before becoming a storyboard artist with Sony Animation. He first drew at Sony in 1997 for the television series "Extreme Ghostbusters," a cartoon take on the popular comedy film franchise. "Extreme Ghostbusters" also provided Liu his first chance to direct, and through the late-'90s, he continued to work in TV. By 2002, he was hired to direct and storyboard for Warner Bros., and he went on to helm several episodes of "The Batman" series. In addition to his TV work, Liu also began to work on feature lengths. In 2007, he was the storyboard artist for "Dr. Strange," a fantasy about sorcerers, and "Superman/Doomsday," which featured Adam Baldwin as the titular hero and Anne Heche as Lois Lane. Two years later, he directed "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies," and he followed that effort with "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths." In 2011, he handled directorial duties on "All-Star Superman," a film with a cast of voice actors that included Edward Asner and Christina Hendricks. He also co-directed "Batman: Year One," featuring Eliza Dushku as Catwoman and "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston as Police Commissioner Gordon.
