A producer notable for his ability to procure an uncommonly high volume of literary rights for film and television adaptations, Scott Steindorff earned the nickname 'Book Man' in many Hollywood circles. While amassing a catalog of bestseller material from authors such as T.C. Boyle and Nicholas Sparks, Steindorff first made his mark as a producer with the surveillance-team series "Las Vegas" and the dramatic film "The Human Stain" (2003), a tale of lifelong secrets based on a novel by Philip Roth. The producer also oversaw such projects as "Empire Falls," a made-for-TV small-town drama adapted by Richard Russo from his own novel, and "The Lincoln Lawyer," the book-adapted tale of an attorney who practices law out of the back of his town car. In a case of life imitating art, Steindorff pursued the author Gabriel Garc铆a M谩rquez for over three years before landing the rights to "Love in the Time of Cholera," deliberately evoking the passion and persistence of the story's love-driven central character. Steindorff has also produced a number of original films as varied as the romantic fable "Penelope" and the grisly body-harvesting horror "Turistas."
