Screamin' Jay Hawkins produced music that was featured in many Hollywood productions. Screamin' Hawkins's career in acting began with his roles in various films like the Tim McIntire musical "American Hot Wax" (1978), the drama "Two Moon Junction" (1988) with Kristy McNichol and the drama "Mystery Train" (1989) with Masatoshi Nagase. He also appeared in the Forest Whitaker action flick "A Rage in Harlem" (1991). Screamin' Hawkins also contributed music to the comedy "Stranger Than Paradise" (1984) with John Lurie and the comedy "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" (1988) with Elvira.
