Thelma Carpenter was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Carpenter marked her early career with roles in "Barefoot in The Park" (1970-71), "Call Her Mom" (ABC, 1971-72) and "The Devil's Daughter" (ABC, 1972-73). She went on to act in the musical "The Wiz" (1978) with Diana Ross, "The Cosby Show" (NBC, 1984-1992) and "The Cotton Club" (1984). Later in her career, Carpenter appeared in "Apollo Theater Hall of Fame" (NBC, 1992-93).
