Waris Hussein's amazing vision and attention to detail were the driving forces behind his success as a director. Hussein launched his directing career with dramas such as the Shirley MacLaine film "The Possession of Joel Delaney" (1972). In addition to his other work, at this time Hussein directed a few films such as the comedy "Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx" (1970) with Gene Wilder, "Melody" (1971) and the drama "The Possession of Joel Delaney" (1972) with Shirley MacLaine. To expand his directing experience, Hussein also directed some television shows including "Notorious Woman" (PBS, 1975-76) and "Shoulder to Shoulder" (PBS, 1975-76). Hussein won an Outstanding Directing In a Variety or Music Program Primetime Emmy Award for "Copacabana" in 1986. Most recently, Hussein directed "Her Best Friend's Husband" (Lifetime, 2001-02).
