Although Zak Orth got his start in the indie film explosion of the early 1990s -- his first role was in writer/director David O. Russell's controversial debut feature, "Spanking the Monkey" -- he soon evinced a knack for quirky comedy. Falling in with alternative-comedy icons David Wain and Michael Showalter of the troupes The State and Stella, Orth became a familiar figure in the pair's various projects, including the cult-favorite films "Wet Hot American Summer" and "The Baxter." Higher-profile work with Woody Allen ("Vicky Cristina Barcelona") and Amy Heckerling ("Vamps") followed. In 2012, Orth got his first major television role as Aaron Pittman on the dystopian drama "Revolution."
