Longtime stage, film and television actor Murray Hamilton is known for his memorable appearances in the films "The Hustler," "The Graduate" and "Jaws." He became interested in acting while in high school and eventually moved to New York City to pursue a stage career. He made his screen debut in a small role in the film "Reckless Age" and followed with appearances in "The Whistle at Eaton Falls" and "Bright Victory" before making his TV debut in 1951 on "The Billy Rose Show." In 1959, he received his first notable recurring role on the sitcom "Love and Marriage" and followed that year with work on the features "The FBI Story" and the Oscar-nominated "Anatomy of a Murder." In 1961 he appeared in another notable role alongside Paul Newman in "The Hustler." Throughout the 1970s he appeared in numerous films including "The Drowning Pool," the Steven Spielberg film "Jaws" and its sequel "Jaws 2." In 1979 He worked with Speilberg again on "1941" and later that same year appeared in the classic film "The Amityville Horror."
